About usDebenhams Ottaway solicitors was formed, in September 2008, the result of a merger between Turner & Debenhams solicitors and Ottaways solicitors. The two firms were individually significant, successful organisations with proud traditions. Turner & Debenhams’ roots date back to 1766 when the firm, then known as Thompson Debenham & Brown, had offices in 15 Poultry in the City. The Firm established an office in St Albans in 1850 and had been based in and around the Market Place and St Peter's Street ever since. The name of Turner & Debenhams started in 1978 when Thompson & Debenhams merged with Turner & Evans. Ottaways was founded in 1905 by Thomas Ottaway. The Firm had always been located in St Albans and had been meeting the needs of local people, businesses and organisations for over 100 years. It had grown from strength to strength and in September 1990 merged with another well known St Albans’ practice, Murgatroyds. Our merged firm, Debenhams Ottaway has offices in St Albans and Radlett, together with an office in the City of London where our specialist insurance practice operates. We use modern practices such as case management systems, digital dictation and storage, bulk scanning email and web access to ensure that our clients can work with us from anywhere in the world.
