Community involvement is important to us
Involvement in our community and its environment is important to the firm and its staff. Several of our partners serve as Trustees for local charities.
In recent years, the firm's community initiatives include raising money for local charities such as Grove House Hospice, participating in 10k runs to raise money for good causes, and each Christmas donating toys to families staying at the St. Albans Women's Refuge.
In January 2009 and in partnership with the St. Albans & Harpenden Review, Debenhams Ottaway were proud to launch the Community Gold Scheme. Members of the public nominated local "heroes" for giving their time and energy to improving community life and the local environment. Each month the firm selected a winner from the nominations and presented the winner with an award. In December 2009, the firm hosted an Awards Dinner for all 12 winners in recognition of, and to say thank you for, their good works.
The Scheme continues in 2010, with a strong environmental theme. If you know of someone who has made a positive contribution to the local community, and is deserving of recognition as a Community Gold "hero", please contact us or the St. Albans & Harpenden Review with your nomination.
In 2010 the firm is also proud to have launched in partnership with Hertfordshire Life Magazine, a photographic competition whereby a prize funded by the firm will be given to one of the areas' best amateur photographer. The photographs must be of local architecture, and through this initiative the firm again hopes to celebrate our local environment.
