A court clerk facing allegations of misconduct has become the first person to be charged under the Bribery Act 2010. Munir Yakub Patel will be prosecuted for "requesting and receiving a bribe intending to improperly perform his functions" (section 2, Bribery Act 2010). He is due to appear before Southwark Crown Court on 14 October 2011.
