Debenhams Ottaway are pleased to announce that the STAGS Dragons Apprentice team, SHS fundraising, has won the 2010/11 Dragons Apprentice challenge.
The team, Amelia Sweeney, Chloe Williams, Kirsty Seymour and Molly Pearson not only raised the most money, £2670, but also won a further awarded for demonstrating the best co-operation with their charity, Homestart St Albans (www.homestartstalbans.org.uk).
The team's Dragon was Debenhams Ottaway Associate Solicitor Luke Tucker Harrison who comments "The team was determined from the outset to win. At one point it was touch and go, whilst the rumours were that the team was ahead of its competitors we had also heard that one of the other teams was expecting to make £2,500. The STAGS team had planed to end their business initiatives in early January so as to concentrate on their AS Levels but pulled out all the stops again and managed to raise a further £800 to leave them clear winners! The experience that the team has gained through the Dragon's Apprentice challenge has developed their business and interpersonal skills and has left them better equipped to deal with the challenges that they will inevitably face when entering the job market in this turbulent economic climate. The benefits for Homestart were not just financial, as the second prize demonstrates; the team was also extremely successful in raising the profile of Homestart in the local community. It has been a pleasure to be involved in this rewarding scheme."
Chief Executive of Debenhams Ottaway, Ian Hopkins said "We as a firm are committed to adding value to the business community of St Albans and District and schemes such as Dragons Apprentice share those values."
