Kate Carroll

Kate qualified as a solicitor in 1988 having trained with Ottaways. She became a partner in 1991, handling a range of legal work for local businesses, schools and individuals. It gives her particular satisfaction that in recent years she has been instructed by the next generation in families and businesses that she first acted for more than 20 years ago.

She specialises in employment law acting for both employers and employees handling a wide range of work from drafting and advising on employment contracts and staff handbooks, assisting with the conduct of disciplinary and performance management procedures through to unfair dismissal and discrimination claims in the Employment Tribunal. She works with clients to find practical and cost effective solutions.

She is the Team Leader of the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team which includes the firm’s property litigation lawyers. Her many years’ experience of contentious and non-contentious property work are invaluable in supporting the property litigation lawyers, and in handling cases in this field including acting regularly for various types of well established local landowners.

Kate is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association, the Property Litigation Association and sits on the Hertfordshire Law Society Civil Litigation Committee.

She has close links with the local community having lived in St Albans (apart from one or two short breaks) since school days. She has been the Company Secretary of the St Albans District CAB since 1998 and helps to organise the annual street collection for the local branch of the RNLI.

In her spare time she enjoys running, hill walking, various sports, and is an avid skier. She would like to do more sailing so if anyone is looking for crew……………?
