Mrinalini Rajaratnam LL.M
Mrinalini Rajaratnam qualified as a solicitor in 1993; Masters in Law, Cambridge University, 1987; Commonwealth Scholar, 1986; Attorney at Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, 1984.
She has expertise in planning, highways, village greens, land registration issues, Council Tax and business rates. Before joining Debenhams Ottaway, Mrinalini worked for seven years as a planning solicitor for Hertfordshire County Council. She has experience in drafting and negotiating Section 106 Agreements relating to residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. She has been involved with major projects such as the West of Stevenage development, comprising 3,000 residential dwellings, the Manor Road development, comprising 300 dwellings in Dacorum and the Essex Road development in Broxbourne, which involved the construction of a road bridge over the London to Cambridge railway line.
Mrinalini has appeared as advocate at public inquiries, hearings and planning appeals.
Her recent cases include a public inquiry in respect of a Modification Order relating to a footpath across Blackgreen Wood in St Albans and a statutory appeal in the High Court against the decision of the Secretary of State in respect of Nuckies Farm in St Albans.
She advises individuals, companies, schools and local authorities in connection with planning agreements, appeals, planning enforcement, applications for Certificates of Lawful Use, highway agreements, highway boundary issues, flooding, business rates, council tax and village green applications.
