Collaborative Law

Many of our family team are trained specialist collaborative lawyers

Collaborative law is a way to resolve divorce and family disputes, without the use of the Courts. It is a growing area which involves a separating couple committing themselves to a process where they agree to resolve all issues between them through a series of meetings and cooperative negotiation. The process involves a number of face to face meetings at which clients and their collaborative lawyers are present.

The parties and their lawyers sign an Agreement to confirm they will not go to Court to argue about financial issues and any problems in relation to their children. Independent Financial Advisors and family Therapists are on hand to provide specialist advice and support as and when required.

The process is
• Controlled by the couple
• Confidential
• Designed to better maintain family ties
• Aimed to reduce and alleviate stress

All collaboratively trained professionals believe that the process produces more successful and rounded outcomes and that parents and partners really can “divorce with dignity”.
